MEET THE RAGGIANA BIRD OF PARADISE
The Raggiana bird-of-paradise (Paradisaea raggiana), also known as Count Raggi’s bird-of-paradise, is a bird in the Paradisaeidae bird-of-paradise family. A large bird, the male has a yellow crown, a dark emerald-green throat with a yellow collar between his throat, and blackish upper breast feathers. Along with this, he has a pair of long black tail wires and large flank plumes.
This species is widely distributed in southern and northeastern New Guinea where it is known as Kumul. It is also the national bird of the country.
