Lion Rescued From Circus Had Faced Traumatic Abuse, Hugs Another Rescued Lion

The grim stories of abuse behind the spectacular facade of a circus highlight the inherently cruel and disturbing lives of the poor circus animals. This is the story of Pancho and Temuco, two lion brothers who were rescued by Animal Defenders International from a life of deprivation and punishment.

These two lions were depressed, starved and dehydrated. They were shoved in tiny, isolated cages and were often beaten if they failed to learn the tricks properly or in time. This soul-crushing abuse had numbed the brothers.
The rescuers were initially worried if the brothers would be able to recover from the emotional and physical trauma. But soon they noticed that the newfound freedom worked wonders for the siblings!
This video was taken a few days after the rescue, when the sanctuary workers witnessed the brothers comforting each other in a touching embrace as they finally realize they are safe! They cuddle and play together all day long as if they’re making up for all the lost time. How sweet! We hope they are never separated from each other again!
