An abandoned Pit Bull named Victoria was having a hard time fending for herself on the streets. She would quell her hunger by eating dirty scraps in the neighborhood, while everything about the outside world terrified her. Her haunting spell on the streets worsened when she found herself pregnant with no one to look out for her.
A passerby was heartbroken to see Victoria’s shabby health and notified the rescue group “Hope For Paws” about her predicament. Rescuer Eldad Hagar soon arrived in the neighborhood to retrieve her, hoping that the distressed dog would surrender to him easily. But by then, Victoria had already lived 3 months on the streets and she knew better than to trust random strangers.

Eldad tried a number of tactics to rescue Victoria. He used a trap and tried the lure her with the help of another dog, but nothing worked. Victoria got spooked and hid herself in a building that was off-limits for Eldad. Despite the multiple challenges, Eldad didn’t lose hope and waited by the building for hours. When she finally emerged, he scrambled to retrieve her with the help of a gentle catchpole.
Victoria was determined to growl and scare away her human stalker, but Eldad managed to secure her after some struggle. Victoria was in extreme shock after the rescue, causing her to flinch whenever she was touched or approached. But everything changed when Eldad took her home and gave her a cleansing, rejuvenating bath. Victoria realized his genuine kindness and all her fears disappeared instantaneously!
While Victoria’s foster days were promising, a tragedy hit her after she gave birth to a litter of 8 puppies. Victoria suffered from Toxic Milk Syndrome, which was probably caused by underlying infections triggered by her unhygienic street life. The poor pooch was devastated when her puppies started dying one by one after consuming her milk. However, her caretakers were able to save the lives of 2 of her puppies.
Like a brave mama, Victoria was able to overcome her grief and raise her surviving puppies till they were adopted. She then found her own forever home with a San Diego family. Victoria is now living the good life with her rescue doggie brother and little human siblings. She has a big yard and a pool to unwind in, and a worry-free smile adorns her face every day!
