Once-In-A-Lifetime Photo Of A Caiman Wearing A Crown Of Butterflies

Professional Photographer Mark Cowan was honored with an unique tribute at the 2016 Royal Society Publishing digital photography competitors for the magnificent image listed below.

He took the image while taking a trip in the Amazon.com researching amphibian variety for the University of Michigan’s Herpetology Division.

It is a photo showing a remarkably tranquil caiman with a crown of beautifully tinted butterflies.

These magnificent winged bugs use the water collected on the caiman’s skin to essence salt and also other minerals required to survive.
