Saved From The Brink, The Bond She Has Developed With Her Rescuer Is Incredible To See

SAVED FROM THE BRINK OF DEATH, SHE HAS BONDED WITH HER RESCUER IN A VERY SPECIAL WAY.
Gigi, the horned owl was rescued by ‘Wild At Heart’ president Doug after she received a severe head injury after very likely being hit by a car.
Based in Mississippi, the rescue brings in a wide range of animals in distress and in need of not just medical care, but quite often rehabilitation as well. Taking care of anything from foxes to possums, from geese to raccoons, and the list goes on.

Not only the president, but Doug is also hands-on and has a very special way with Birds of Prey that sets him apart from many others. You can see it in the way these birds respond to him.
Just recently ‘Wild at Heart’ shared some photos with Gigi showing just how close their bond is. And one shot, in particular, shows what “an owl hug really looks like.”
One point to note on Dougs handling with these incredible birds is the calming effect he has on them. When he walked in on Gigi, the instant she saw him she was dancing all over with excitement.

They shared some precious moments together at their reunion, there really is not much to say checking out these photos, a picture really does paint a thousand words.
“Doug was checking on his little patient, and this is what happened. She threw both wings around him and gave him an owl hug. Really Doug?!”

“The first photo he was saying shhhhh like he normally does~very calming to them.”
“Then I walk around to see what her face looks like and this is what I see.

Pure contentment. They show their gratitude. Nothing these birds of prey do any more surprises me. I have learned to accept the fact that it’s just going to happen, and to have the camera ready at all times ~ These moments must be captured and frozen in time.”
It’s not the first time Doug has bonded with his feathered-rescues. “There are truly no words to describe what happens here between Doug and these birds of prey. It’s like they communicate. And I actually don’t think anybody in this world has a relationship with birds of prey like he does,” wrote the rescue.

Here’s another young owl, that goes to show just how much these birds appreciate Doug’s attention.

Once GiGi is well enough, she will be released back into the wild. To learn more about Wild at Heart Rescue and to support their efforts, visit their website and please share this story with your friends!
