As the story goes, he chose his loving owners, Liz and Ian Finlay, almost 27 years prior after he befriended their cat at the time.

Since he was a stray, and looked like he had an abscess on his neck, they took him to their local cat protection and this is when they found out he was 5 years old at the time.

He isn’t on the Guinness book of records as they require documentation to prove it, and since he was a stray, they found this to prove quite difficult. But they are working on it.

The year before his 31st birthday, he suffered from a pretty serious stroke which actually made him stronger. He is up and about now and is making people wonder how many lives he has left.

“He is not our family pet, we are his humans and he never lets us forget that. Maybe that is the secret to his long and happy life.”

Unfortunately, Nutmeg passed away soon after his 32nd birthday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
