Meet Moet the blind Persian cat who has become an internet sensation and a social media star ever since she was rescued from horrible neglect. The 6-year-old cat was adopted by Emily Shotter who found her in an animal shelter in Oman in 2014 and gave the fluffy cat a new forever home, writes boredpanda.

Moet had been born to an unlicensed breeder and lost her sight due to neglect at a ‘pet shop.’ She had been left in a dirty cage with no food, no water, no bed, and no toys which is why this abandoned cat got sick and went blind. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending.

“Moet is a bit of a diva and a sassy girl. While she’s generally very sweet-natured, this blind cat hates to be bored and will squeak (not meow) for attention incessantly!” Emily the owner of this adorable cat told Bored Panda. The cat was rescued, vets removed what was left of her eyes, and saved her life. Emily met Moet 6 days after her surgery. That’s when she decided to take the Persian cat in and the two eventually ended up living together. Now, some people are calling Moet the most gorgeous cat ever. You can’t deny that she has a beautiful white coat.

Now, Moet gets spoiled and lives like royalty. Emily meownages Moet’s online store and donates all of the profits to help stray cats and dogs in Oman via a volunteer group called Omani Paws. Emily currently lives in Oman but she is from Nottingham and plans to be back there at some point.

“If I’m ever on the phone… well, nightmare.” Emily told Bored Panda more about how Moet tries to get her attention.

“She doesn’t like me speaking to others, so the squeak-meow gets voiced loudly and without a break. And in fact, when I’m on work video calls or in virtual meetings, she can typically be heard in the background. I never know whether to laugh or apologize!” Emily said.

“Anyway, I guess because she can’t see, she gets bored more easily, so lots of playtime is a must. Moet loves her food and her favorite treats are Thrive freeze-dried treats and Nutripockets. She also loves to go out in the garden, which I’ve had fully enclosed for her safety.”

Emily started posting photos of her gorgeous Persian rescue just two years ago, in 2018. Since then, her following has grown immensely. Moet now has over 52k fans on Instagram, nearly 10k followers on Facebook, and over 36.9k supporters on Twitter.
