Homeless Dog Avoids Capture For 2 Yrs, Finally Gets Caught & Makes Rescuers Cry

Like his namesake, Houdini the dog had the reputation of being a terrific escape artist. He used to live at a port in Los Angeles, and wasn’t too thrilled in the presence of humans. He had been evading local rescue groups for more than 2 years with the help of his wits and unmatched agility, writes ilovemydogsomuch.

In this video, we see a bunch of rescuers forming a “small army” as they set out to pursue the dog once again. Houdini has always been too wary of traps, and there was no way to lure him in. After 3 days of chasing the dog in vain, the rescuers realize they have to up their game.

This time, the rescuers secure the entire area and start chasing the dog with their snare. The dog flies one from direction to the other at lightning-fast speed, but it becomes impossible for him to escape the netted arena.

As the rescuers finally manage to capture Houdini, they are faced with the immediate task of winning over the elusive dog. Houdini remained calm as the rescuers took him to the shelter, and quietly allowed them to bathe him. However, he was still reserved and kept humans at length.

Toward the end of this video, we see the magic happen when a rescuer cuddles his way into Houdini’s withdrawn heart! As the dog experiences his very first hug, all his inhibitions melt away and he embraces the feeling of being a loved dog. We could barely control our happy tears as we watched Houdini mingle with his foster humans and doggie friends.
