Stray Pit Bull Shut Down After He Is Paralyzed, Thought No One Would Want Him

Dog owners are well aware of their dogs’ incredible strength. Iron’s strength had to come from deep within him. This special Pit Bull had been through so much when he was hit by a car and left on the street. It is a mystery how he survived.
After being hit by a large vehicle and left for dead, Iron was discovered in Puerto Rico. He couldn’t walk and was dragging his hind legs around. He was malnourished and in pain. After being examined by a veterinarian, it was determined that he had a spinal injury and that it was extremely unlikely that he would ever walk again, writes xaga.info.

This was devastating news. Due to breed discrimination, Pit Bulls have a difficult time finding forever homes, but a Pit Bull who couldn’t walk would only make finding Iron a forever home that much more difficult.
Iron was saved by the New York Bully Crew after they learned about him, but they now needed additional resources to help rehabilitate the deserving dog. He needed a foster home that would work with Iron to help him get better. Kat and Heather saw Iron on Instagram and knew they could help. They had a lot of experience rehabilitating dogs.

Iron was soon in the care of Kat and Heather. They couldn’t believe his size. He was so thin that it was frightening. His new foster moms knew they had their work cut out for them. Iron wasn’t just physically exhausted. He was emotionally shut down.
One of his mothers works as a veterinary nurse. She knew it would be a difficult road ahead, but no one would give up on iron. He was well worth the extra effort!

Iron’s new foster mom put him on a special diet that consisted of small, frequent meals. This would allow him to gain weight without becoming ill from overeating. They also began rehabilitation right away. He could barely stand at first, but he was soon taking a few steps at a time.
They even had a wheelchair made especially for him!

Within six weeks, Iron could walk for several minutes without dragging his legs. This was a HUGE accomplishment! Iron loved his new canine pals at his foster home.
They inspired him to persevere and assisted him in breaking out of his shell. Dogs are pack animals, and even a dog like Iron, who was shut down and afraid, responded well to the happy energy of his new pack.

Then the most incredible thing happened! Because Iron is so clever, he devised a plan to intentionally crash his wheelchair and wiggle his way out. He would then walk to his friends using his own legs. Everyone around him was taken aback. The dog, who was unlikely to walk again, was certainly moving!

Iron realized how much he had been missing out on—toys, playtime, and, of course, affection. Iron also took on the role of pack protector. He’d make sure they all calmed down when it was time to relax. And he loved cleaning everyone up after it rained. When his siblings entered the house, he would give them special “Iron kisses.”

Iron was clearly already at home. Kat and Heather couldn’t imagine their lives without him. He fit in so well, and he had come so far thanks to his new mom. They were confident that he would thrive in their care. If you ask them, they will always say they are the lucky ones. They claim that iron gives them more joy than they can imagine.
