The man and his friend used a sheet, like a gurney, to transport the dog to their vehicle. They then raced over to the vet clinic. The vet and his staff went to work right away. They were very concerned about the dog who still struggled to wake up. His blood work revealed why. He was extremely anemic from malnourishment. He was also dehydrated and in the early stages of hypothermia.

The vet gave him IV fluids first and then made arrangements for a blood transfusion. They had to get his hemoglobin up or he wouldn’t survive. Within a few days, the dog made tremendous progress. He wasn’t even able to sit up and now he was standing, eager to eat a real meal!

This poor boy hadn’t seen real food for so long. He ate everything and then wanted more! The vet is so pleased that the dog, that was near death, is now on the path to a full recovery. To see what happens next, scroll on down. We are so grateful that this sweet boy is getting healthier by the day! He will be healthy enough to go to his forever home soon. YAY!
