Pup Was Brought To Be Euthanized For “Not Playing” But Rescuers Quickly Intervened

Sometimes dogs end up at shelters through no fault of their own. Some people have no choice but to give up their beloved pets because they got too sick to care for them or because they’re moving out of the country and are unable to take their pets with them. While some reasons are acceptable, there are others that are just downright upsetting, writes ilovemydogsomuch.
This little dog, named Simba, was brought to the shelter to be euthanized. The reason? He “wouldn’t play.” After examining Simba, vets realized that there was a very good reason behind why Simba did not want to play: he was very sick.
This poor pup tested positive for tick bite fever and was given a 50/50 chance for survival. He was very weak and did not feel well at all, so we can’t blame him for not wanting to play!
Thankfully, his illness was caught before it was too late, and they quickly began treating him at Vet Point. From there, he went to live in a foster home where he could heal in a comfortable place. At his new foster home, there was a dog who he immediately bonded with. The older pup took such great care of him and never left his side.
Sidewalk Specials held an “Adoption Day,” where Simba was available for adoption. They worried that he wouldn’t find a home, but that day soon became the best day of Simba’s life. He found his forever home!
Simba is all healed up and is having the time of his life. He went from “not wanting to play” to running around his new backyard with his new doggy sibling.
