This Fox And Bulldog Are Best Friends — And They’re On A Mission

In a story worthy of a Disney movie, a fox and bulldog have slowly become best friends. The pair, who were both rescued by animal lover Pauline Ashanolla, absolutely love playing and napping together in spite of their species difference!

Ashanolla, who lives on the Isle of Wight, adopted her bulldog Ernie years ago and he got used to being the leader of the pack.

But when Marley the fox was found abandoned at just two weeks old and brought to Ashanolla’s door, everything changed.

But as more of Ashanolla’s energy went into caring for the sick fox, Ernie grew into a whole new role: “After I’d had her about three weeks they started playing together,” Ashanolla told the outlet. “One day they just started running around together and they have been best friends ever since.”

Marley’s journey from rescue to forever home was a hard one: At one point, she was throwing up worms and Ashanolla was struggling to find the time, money, and medication to keep her alive.

It cost Ashanolla her dream job as a dog groomer but brought her the opportunity of a lifetime. “It’s so nice seeing how well they’ve bonded, it’s quite an unusual friendship,” she explained to the outlet.

Ashanolla has also launched the ambitious goal of caring for more animals on the island — Marley’s Haven.

“Now Marley is older and not reliant on 24/7 care I’m able to give a lot more time into rehabilitating wildlife,” she explained on a GoFundMe page for the project.

“I have kindly been offered a little land and we are going to create an area in which I will be able to take on a few more animals. I will do my best along with other rescues on the island to deal with all species but I will mainly be focusing on foxes as there is no longer a rescue on the island for them,” she added.
