Found Starving & Shot In The Chest & Front Paws, Dog Fights For Her Life

Shortcake is an adorable puppy who nearly lost her life at the hands of a monster. The sweet dog was found beneath a shed in Jackson, Mississippi covered in blood. How the dog managed to stay alive is a testament to her will to live.
The folks at Coco’s House Sanctuary and Rescue discovered Shortcake with bullet wounds to both front feet and her chest. In addition to her injuries, she was very malnourished and obviously neglected before she was shot.
After many surgeries to try and save her life, Shortcake’s front feet had to be amputated. Although surgeons tried to save her feet, the bone damage was too severe in addition to the lack of blood flow to each foot.
On their Facebook page, Coco’s House shared, “We are working on using her legs to move rather than army crawling like she wants to do. Progress every day towards her new legs!
Since Shortcake is food motivated, her physical therapy team works with her to build strength. She is receiving laser therapy, bandage changes, and rehabilitation.
She will be receiving prosthetics as she continues her journey to a new life.
