Adipurush

Adipurush is an upcoming Indian mythological film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana.[5] The film is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles.[6] Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages, Adipurush stars Prabhas as Adipurush, Kriti Sanon as Sita, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh.[4][7] A 3D film, Adipurush is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.[3][4]

Principal photography commenced on 2 February 2021.[8] The film is scheduled for theatrical release in Telugu and Hindi along with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam on 11 August 2022.[9]

The film was announced on 18 August 2020 via a promotional poster, with official confirmation that Prabhas will portray Lord Rama as Adipurush, under the direction of Om Raut who earlier helmed the period action film Tanhaji (2020).[13]

On 3 September, the makers revealed that with Prabhas enacting Lord Rama’s portrayal, Saif Ali Khan who already worked as villain in Tanhaji has been signed for the role of Ravana.[14] After rumours of Anushka Shetty, Anushka Sharma, Kiara Advani, and Keerthy Suresh being approached for the role of Devi Sita, it was reported in November 2020 that Kriti Sanon has been cast to essay the role; her inclusion into the film was confirmed by makers four months later on 12 March 2021.[15] Sunny Singh who joined the sets on 23 February 2021 is playing Lord Rama’s younger brother Lakshmana.[16]

Motion capture shoot for Adipurush begun on 19 January 2021.[17] Muhurat shot and formal launch was done on 2 February 2021 in Mumbai, India.[18] Principal photography of the movie began that day, as informed by the makers.[19] A massive fire accident took place at the filming location in Mumbai on the same day.[20] Duplicate sets were erected same wise due to the fire breakout.[21] On October 2021, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon wrapped up shoot.[22][23][24][25]
