Staff were in the middle of setting up a buffet when one of the park’s lions gatecrashed it, most likely attracted by the smell of the food.

The group fled to the safety of their vehicles leaving the majestic lion to have a sniff around the table.

The brazen lion left guests stunned after deciding to join them in their sunset picnic.

Although it is more likely he was attracted by the smell of the cured beef on the table, rather than gin and cocktails.

After a brief look around, the lion sauntered off into the bush without even having a nibble of the goods.

Among the group was an expert lion tracker who confirmed it was safe to continue the cocktail party.

Thankfully for us, safari guide Chris Taylor managed to capture these amazing photos and a video.

“On these particular guests’ final night, we as the Londolozi team decided to go the extra mile and set up a slightly more extravagant evening drinks stop to celebrate their visit in light of the exceptional few days that they had experienced.”

“Little did we know, we would in fact have an unexpected guest joining us that evening!”

“To have one visit a drink stop in such close proximity is very unusual, said Chris.

“We all sat and watched as he slowly moved closer. He posed for a few seconds and continued. I have had other animals wander past, but normally at a much greater distance.”
