3-Year-Old Boy Says Bear Kept Him Warm For Two Nights In Freezing Woods
Casey, a three-year-old boy who went missing in 2019 while playing at a relative’s house in North Carolina, strayed into the woods. His abduction sparked a major search that made national headlines, with hundreds of people joining the search.
A neighbor heard screaming coming from the woods three days later. Casey, who was tangled in a bush and begging for his mother, said a bear protected him.
Most of us have a horrible feeling when we hear of missing children. You realize they’re not capable of looking after themselves like their parents are.

You have to question if they would even know where to look for assistance. Would they be able to tell someone where they are if they were able to phone 911? You also question if they are aware of persons who can assist them and who they should avoid. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case.
We can’t begin to imagine what Casey Hathaway’s grandmother was going through. Casey went missing when he was three years old. He was outside with two other children in Ernul, North Carolina, according to Inside Edition. When playtime was over, the other two kids returned inside, but Casey did not.
His grandmother looked for him for nearly 45 minutes and couldn’t find him. She decided to phone 911 and report him missing at this point.
Casey was not clothed correctly for the weather conditions at the time of his disappearance, according to Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes.
Hughes recalls being concerned about deep water-collecting ditches and sinkholes in the neighborhood. He was worried that one of these items was to blame for his disappearance.
As divers became involved, the search attempts continued. The area’s ponds were assessed. As the hours went, the weather quickly deteriorated. The hunt was soon joined by state detectives, the US Marine Corps, and the FBI.
Casey was eventually located. He was discovered alive at a crossroads a few miles distant.
Shane Grier, Chocowinity EMS Cpt, had received a tip and started looking into it. It was at this point when he heard Casey. He was caught in a tangle of briars. Grier was able to easily liberate him. Casey was subsequently taken to Caroline East Medical Center for treatment of minor scratches and hunger. On January 26, 2019, he was set to be released.
Despite what he had gone through, his evaluation revealed that he was in good general health. Hughes claimed that he acted like any other young boy would.
Casey had been discovered, according to his aunt, who had kept everyone up to date on the issue through her Facebook page.
She stated, “Miracles do happen.”
Even while everyone is relieved that Casey has been discovered, he will almost certainly face some sort of punishment for his crimes. His justification for going missing, on the other hand, would make practically anyone smile. According to his tale, he spent the previous two days with a bear.
Following the tragedy, his mother went on to express her gratitude to everyone for his safe return. She went into further information regarding his condition and stated that he was OK. He has apparently been requesting to watch Netflix once more.
