Dog Finds Stranded Baby Dolphin And Saves Its Life
A little pup called Leia saved the life of a baby dolphin after discovering him all alone, stranded on a beach.
Rich Wilcox was on Criccieth Beach in wales after hearing Leia, his springer spaniel, frantically barking at him as if calling for help.
“I was taking photos of the fantastic scenery when I heard my dog barking at me from further down the beach … clearly she had found something!”
He realised as he got closer that Leia had found a baby dolphin or porpoise stranded in the shallow water and stuck in the sand.
So he and Leia working together gently guided the baby sea creature back into the ocean, and luckily for us, captured the whole thing on camera.
“Stayed at the site for a while after to make sure he didn’t come back. Spoke to the coastguard once I had signal and they reported it to the science team. Think the little guy was lucky as there was nobody around for miles,” he posted on YouTube.
He lovingly nicknamed the stranded creature Buddy and took a photo of him once he was back swimming again.
Leia is the real hero here who noticed the animal in need and got the help required, “… If it wasn’t for my dog barking at me I would have missed him too.”
