Stolen Pitbull Rescued From Cockfighting Ring Reuinuted With Human Two Years Later
A stolen pit bull was found starving and rescued during a raid of a South Carolina cockfighting ring.
Officers managed to track down the owners and she has now been reunited with her family, and they are thrilled, to say the least.
“It seems surreal to both of us,” said the pups human, April Morris. “It’s such a miracle to have her back.”
Nina Louise, the dog, was stolen from her home in Bennettsville a couple of years prior, April was understandably crushed.
After lots of searching, she even offered a $500 reward for anyone who can help find her, but this was to no avail.
“We walked miles to find her. I’d walk until I couldn’t walk anymore,” April said.
Eventually, April gave up hope of ever seeing her baby again. This was until a few years later when she saw a photo of her on the Humane Society of Marlboro County‘s FB page.
“We knew instantly it was her,” April explained. “I mean, just the way she held her face, the way she looked up at the rescuer.”
So she called the animal shelter and identified Nina to the shelter as hers by pointing out that she had two white spots on her neck.
“Everybody was crying,” Jennifer said. “There was no doubt that she knew who that was. It was very emotional.”
There was another surprise when April got to the shelter, Nina was a mother to a litter of puppies who were only a few weeks old.
“I wish she’d have been in better shape, but she’s alive, she’s here with us, and she’ll never go through that again,” April said.
What a beautiful ending to this heartfelt story!
