Used As “Bait” In Dogfights, Dog Is Found Badly Injured Hiding Behind Garbage Can

Melanie Pafford, co-founder of the Street Dog Foundation for animal protection in Tennessee, USA, decided to share this story with the intention of raising awareness about these alarming events.

As he walked past a dumpster, he realized something was wrong and approached it. He couldn’t believe what he found. Behind all the debris was a poor puppy in deplorable condition.

Liam had heavy bite marks all over his body, his life was in danger.

After it came into the hands of the center’s staff, it then received all the love and care it needed to move on.

Little by little his caretakers gained Liam’s trust. Until this puppy surrendered completely into the arms of the staff.

This noble woman with the help of a protector’s volunteer made a huge effort to get him out of that place. Liam didn’t move or react on his own.

Kent, Melanie’s partner, managed to make room in the trash so that Liam could get out. But nothing motivated him to move.

“I was completely exhausted”, said Kent.

After several attempts to get the puppy out by himself, Kent decided to solve the problem and stepped in, wrapping Liam in a soft towel and carrying him to a truck.

After looking at his paws, they realized that he had infected bites. So Melanie assumed that he had been used as “bait” in dog fights.

Taken immediately to the nearest veterinary center, where he was treated with serum and antibiotics. They also cleaned his wounds. But despite all the efforts to save him, the little furry’s life prognosis was guarded.

They really didn’t have much expectation that he would survive. Liam was in very poor health.

“His whole spirit was so affected that he was just giving up, and that was what worried us the most”, said Melanie.

Gradually therefore, this puppy began to show enthusiasm after feeling safe.

Ever since he realized that he had been rescued and felt loved, he kept wagging his tail, despite all the pain he was in.

He then went from being a scared, distrustful and shy puppy to a furry dog with a witty, curious and funny personality. Liam did not allow himself to be grateful for the new lease on life that the rescue people had given him.
