Now Very Ill, It Wasn’t Till His Final Year That He Finally Found The Love He Deserved!
HE WAS JUST A SICK “WORTHLESS CAT,” AT LEAST THAT’S WHAT MANY PEOPLE CALLED HIM. HOWEVER, THERE WAS FAR MORE TO HIM THAN WHAT MOST PEOPLE SAW AT FIRST GLANCE.
Until the final year of his life, no one wanted him, no one loved him. This stray cat was ignored by the world! The only time he was noticed was when, after taking one look, people would shoo him away. Or worse, call him names, such as “worthless cat,” which of course, he wasn’t. He was just a sick stray cat doing his best to survive on the streets, writes kittencatpost.
Finally, his days of trying to survive would be over when two volunteers thought he deserved a chance and took him to the vet.
Along with a myriad of skin problems, the worst news was that Iron, as he was named, had FIV (Feline Immunodigicentcy Virus), common in stray cats. This lowers a cat’s immune system, and thereby its ability to fight off other illnesses.
The condition was in the chronic stages and things weren’t looking too good. But, the kitten was iron-willed. While staying at the clinic, he became the staff’s favorite pet. He wanted to be petted all the time and loved nothing more than playing with Powder, a kitten also infected with FIV.
Iron and Powder were inseparable. They went everywhere together and loved sunbathing next to one window. Over time, Iron’s condition improved, but it wasn’t enough.
LITTLE BY LITTLE HE BEGAN TO RETREAT INTO HIMSELF.
He spent his final days looking out, not caring for what’s happening around him.
Iron retreated in himself, only wanting to enjoy the sun in front of the window.
Although his life was short, Iron experienced the one thing he never did before – love.
Powder lasted more than anyone expected, and if it hadn’t been for the love of his forever family, we would have lost him long before. The announcement of his death brought back memories. Memories of something very special all of us volunteers were lucky enough to witness and to be part of.
Whether Iron and Powder are reunited, I don’t know, but I like to think that they are, cuddled up together again, like yin and yang.
