So, unless you’ve been living under a rock (pun intended), you’re definitely familiar with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He is not only a giant celebrity and former wrestler turned superstar, but he is also a huge dog lover.

Things did not look promising when Dwayne Johnson the puppy was discovered and transported to the Los Angeles Animal Shelter. Volunteers at the shelter worked carefully and patiently with bolt cutters to remove a metal wire that had been entangled around the puppy’s mouth, requiring 17 stitches in the process. But then something much worse happened to poor puppy Dwayne: it was determined that the 4-month-old canine has a grade 6 cardiac murmur–the highest grade.

Surgery is required to preserve his life, and the shelter was unable to make this happen without first gathering the necessary funds: $5,000.

Dwayne Johnson the puppy craves peace and quiet and cannot be kept in a kennel since the stress could induce a deadly heart attack. The Los Angeles animal shelter set up a GoFundMe account for the puppy, which was seen by actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who took it upon herself to tweet a shout-out to real-life Dwayne Johnson:

When real-life Dwayne Johnson learned of the puppy’s suffering, he jumped into action, paying $1,500 toward the life-saving surgery.
