Even she couldn’t bear the thought of his cat’s missing, Janet at least hoped Boo has found some nice people to look after her and she’s alive. As about the thought of finding her, the woman gave up on it. But she still wanted to share her life with a cat, so three years after the unfortunate event, Janet adopted Ollie. Then in 2014 she brought home another rescue cat named Tessie.

However, 13 years after Boo got lost, Janet received a phone call about a missing cat. But she initially thought it is a mistake since her both cats were next to her and with Boo she lost any hope a long time ago. “I got a call on Thursday to say I had a cat missing,” the woman told a local news outlet. “I said ‘I don’t think I do, they’re both here’ – but they said we’ve looked on the system it says you own a cat called Boo. I thought it was weird, but I couldn’t believe it when I got to the vets and they had her there – and she still remembered me.”

A woman spotted the cat wondering on the streets 40 miles away and assuming she could be a stray cat, she took her to the Wicstun Vets in York. After checking the cat’s microchip, the vet started to pup the puzzle’s pieces together. Despite being 17-year-old, the senior cat looked in a very good shape and she recognized the woman that raised her, straight away.

“I don’t know where she had been, I think possibly a stray but kept being fed by strangers – or catching her own food,” Janet said. “We don’t know how she got all those 40 miles, it could have been any number of reasons. She has done well as a 17-year-old cat to last that long as a stray cat – it really is remarkable.”

The moment Janet and Boo met again after so many year, left everyone at the clinic in tears . “There wasn’t a dry eye in the building,” a spokesperson for the vet clinic said. “Boo recognised her mum straight away and within minutes the two were thoroughly enjoying plenty of face rubs, cuddles and meows.”
