Dog That Gave Up On Life Is Coaxed Over To Car But Won’t Climb Inside

When a kind woman came across a stray dog, she nearly broke down. The poor boy had been on the streets for a while. He had lost most of his fur, he was so thin, and his eyes were full of discharge. This dog needed help but getting him to trust a human wouldn’t be an easy feat.

The woman, a seasoned animal rescuer, had a plan. She wouldn’t overwhelm the hesitant dog. She explains in the video below that this pup had already given up on life. His sheer desperation pulled on every one of her heartstrings. She had to get him medical treatment and there was no time to waste, writes ilovemydogsomuch.

The rescuer placed a leash around him gently and did her best to coax the dog into her car. She wanted him to come willingly for several reasons. She was afraid to try to pick him up and hurt him since his skin was so raw. She also wanted him to build trust with her. If he got into the car with her, that was a step in the right direction. She put food in her hand and tried coaxing him.

The dog was understandably hesitant. He put his paws up, sniffed the food, then backed up again. But the rescuer wasn’t going to give up. She continued with her soft-spoken words and with her patience, the dog finally climbed in. The rescuer was elated! She named the brave dog Henry.

Henry laid in the backseat. The rescuer was certain this dog had an owner and he had been on car rides before. They headed straight to the vet. Henry was evaluated and his rescuer was given special instructions in order to bring Henry home with her. He needed a lot of TLC and she was willing to give it to him, in spades.

Now that Henry was home with his new human friend, it was time for a bath! This was the first step that would lead to quite the transformation. As the woman explains further in the video, he needed a good diet, lots of love, and beautiful walks. He also fell in love with her bed, which wasn’t always appreciated (LOL!)

A month later, Henry’s true personality began to show. His rescuer is certain that walking him, especially around the water and through breathtaking landscapes, is what truly helped Henry to find himself again. The dog that had surely given up on life was now prancing and playing. It was absolutely perfect.

The icing on the cake is when Henry bonded to his rescuer’s other dog Sadie. The two became the best of friends. She made him feel safe, and around her, Henry could act like his true self. Their friendship was truly magical.

As the story goes on, it just gets better and better. Let’s just say that Henry’s rescuer is now permanently banned from fostering dogs. She just can’t part with them.
