An overjoyed homeless man has been reunited with his beloved dog this week, after he alleged that she was stolen by a man posing as a policeman.
Owner Michael, from London, England, was approached by the police impersonator last week who told him that his Staffordshire Bull terrier, Treacle, was to be sent to Battersea Dogs Home on the grounds that he was “abusing her”.
Treacle was then snatched from Michael’s grasp, leaving him a “complete mess” and “unable to cope” afterwards.
Upon hearing about the theft, passer-by Sarah Stephenson Rix set up a Facebook page in an attempt to locate Treacle and reunite her with distraught Michael.
She said: “[Michael] is a complete mess, he literally cannot cope without her. I found him rocking backwards and forwards today barely able to speak.”
Passers-by were delighted this morning to discover that Michael and Treacle were back together.
The circumstances under which the beloved pup was returned to her owner are unknown, but the Staffy was microchipped, and appeals on social media to Battersea Dogs Home and the police may have helped.
One witnesses said: “I pass Michael with Treacle every day and it’s clear he absolutely adores that dog. She is not underweight or malnourished and clearly enjoys spending her days in Michael’s arms and being taken for walks.”
