We’ve seen this particular scenario in movies a lot, and some of us have to experience it in real life incidents too. When a partner or spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend acquires a deadly disease such as cancer, their significant other sometimes end the relationship over the fact that they would not be able to take the pain of them passing away. It’s always a sad and unfortunate situation for the couple in such cases. But one Max Allegretti, on the other hand, did something that brought many a smile to our lips and tears in our eyes.
Allegretti met his love Jillian Hanson in a real rom-com fashion when Jillian signed up for a dodgeball tournament back in college and ended up on a team with Allegretti on it. A real meet-cute. Though they were close in college, they allegedly lost touch after she graduated. After she moved back to her hometown in order to care for her sick grandmother, Allegretti asked her out to the movies one day, and the rest, as Hanson describes, “is history.” Just one month after that special movie date, Allegretti knew that Hanson was the one.

According to the charming young man, he was even more in love with her when Hanson bravely opened up to him about her breast cancer diagnosis. The couple knew what lay in store for her and them, but Jillian just didn’t know what exactly to expect. When the thought that he may leave him due to her terminal illness sat in Jillian’s head, Allegretti held her hand and softly said: “I’m not going to leave your side.” And then our hearts melted. Jillian soon heard that her cancer had grown and that the forthcoming treatment was going to get intense.
Julian Hanson was surprised by her boyfriend Max Allegretti with a proposal on her last day of Chemotherapy.

“They tell you how sick you get during treatment, but no one can really prepare you for any of this,” Hanson wrote. Not having any energy after radiation treatments, the surgeries to remove lymph nodes, the hair loss after chemotherapy, and Allegretti was there through it all. He would often tell her how pretty she was and plan special events like going to the movies or dinner dates to make her ordeal a bit more withstandable. The smallest acts of kindness often have the most impact on people and it’s indeed the little things that matter in the long run.
This is affection that everyone wishes their loving partner to show them. Through it all, Allegretti was sure he was going to propose. He talked it over with her family and friends, “and we all decided it would bring a lot more joy even to the special day it was going to be already.” Allegretti said, as reported by The Epoch Times. When the day finally arrived, and Allegretti magnificently asked Jillian to marry him, she ecstatically said yes, and the entire scene was taken by the hospital. According to Insider, LLG Events, an event planning company, were so touched by this story that they shared the video and even organized the wedding for the couple completely free of charge.
The treatment was a success. Jillian survived breast cancer and the wedding was a gorgeous ceremony of compassion and joy. Love triumphs all!
