In almost any sport that requires a lot of physical activity, players generally talk a lot, most times taunting each other, sometimes just thinking out loud like everybody else and even talking to themselves. It’s pretty fun when we hear what they have to say. The younger they are, the better it is. Jeremy Rupke is one dad who goes by this logic. He wasn’t sure what to do with his son during hockey practice and in order to get clarity on how he felt during practice, he decided to mic the little boy up. Four-year-old Mason had no inhibitions knowing that the mic was attached to his collar. He let out whatever was on his mind, held nothing back. The boy spoke about the most random things in the world, from how he was tired and wanted to sleep for a while, to talking about McDonald’s, and even a mysterious old paint can. This is why people love the way children think.

Rupke took to Twitter regarding what little Mason had to say. He shared a video of his son playing hockey during practice and the clip was filled with sound bytes of his son muttering to himself throughout. Rupke wrote on the social media site alongside the video: I mic’d up my four-year-old at Timbits Hockey so I could finally understand what the heck he was doing out there. It was… interesting Based on the clip, Mason might just be the most adorable four-year-old that the internet has come across.

Jeremy Rupke has been a hockey coach in Ontario, Canada, for the past decade. He is not only known in the sports circles for his coaching skills but also for the videos he creates. His videos range from the best power shot drills to how to build a backyard rink. In an interview with CTV News.ca, Rupke said, “I was a coach and I was just looking for content online and I couldn’t really find anything that was a good source on how to play hockey,” explaining why he decided to start the website and the YouTube channel.

The purpose of the videos, he added, is “to educate, entertain and inspire hockey players.” But in a recent video, he decided to educate himself – on “what the heck” Mason, his four-year-old son, was thinking and doing during his Timbits hockey drills. The video is around six minutes long and has gone viral on the internet as Mason happens to be the most adorable hockey player ever.

The best part is that most people could relate to the four-year-old. They spoke about how they have similar thoughts during their games. We don’t ever really grow up, yeah?

The video that is uploaded on Rupke’s YouTube channel called Coach Jeremy and has racked up more than a million views ever since it was uploaded on the 22nd of February. However, more people have viewed it on his HowToHockey.com website. At one point, Mason declares it’s time for a nap and wishes everyone a Happy Halloween regardless of the fact that we are in the middle of February, pretty far away from the scary festival. There’s another point where Mason engages in a sword fight with one of his friends on the ice. There is no end to the cuteness.

Rupke said, “That definitely made it a lot more touching.” He added that Mason told him he felt “pretty good” about his newfound internet popularity, before moving on to questions about one of his Transformers toys. “I certainly hope he continues with hockey,” said Rupke, further adding that he and his wife were open to Mason trying out other sports as well and would encourage him to whatever he showed interest in. “We want to make sure he’s being active and making friends and having fun,” added Rupke.

It’s great that Mason is finally getting the hang of the sport at the same time. Hockey is a pretty rough and serious sport but Mason seems to have found a way to not take himself or life too seriously. We could learn a lesson or two from him. Maybe he’ll get to a point where hockey becomes his favorite sport. Until then, he can lay back and enjoy the fame he has gotten after the video went viral.
